Imagine a 15,000,000 inhabitants city equipped with a huge gondola taking you in 30min up to 3800m… Welcome to Tehran!
Builded at the end of the seventies, Tochal ski resort is part of a multi-activity complex located North of Tehran. Tochal is a leisure place where Iranian are coming to breath fresh air and enjoy numerous activities: skiing or snowboarding, hiking, summer sledge, zipline, coaster, restaurants, hotel…
To reach the ski area, the 7km ride gondola, constructed by the french company POMA, can fit 6 persons per cabin.
At Tochal ski resort, the winter season lasts up to 7 months with 100% natural snow! If smog isn’t to dense, you will experience a breathtaking panoramic view of Tehran from top of the gondola.
The ski area, North-West exposure, is equipped with 3x lifts : 2x chairlifts (three seats) + 1x unused ski lift. The 2 slopes of the resort are nice, wide and properly groomed everyday. The snow quality is worth the try.
Using the lifts, off-piste trails are limited. However, knowing where to go, you can experience long off-pistes starting from Tochal’s peak back to the valley leading to Dizin, Shemshak and Darbandsar ski resorts.

Access
Go North Tehran in Velenjak district by taxi or a “snapp” (the local “Uber”). Depending on your location in Tehran, price may vary.
For public transportation, a regular bus line pass through Velenjak near complex’s entrance.

Lodging
Due to its proximity with Tehran, numerous accommodations are available at Tochal! You can even sleep on the slope at 3500m, in “Tochal Hotel”.
In Tehran, depending on your budget, you will have a large choice of hotels and hostels.
Finally, as anywhere else in Iran but even more in Tehran, Couchsurfing is an interesting option.
