Information

With an elevation of 4810m, Mount Sabalan is the 3rd highest summit of Iran. Its peak is famous for its crater lake.

Its ascent can be achieved during summer and winter. The main route via the North-East face isn’t technical – High altitude and tough weather conditions are the main difficulties for its climb. Small cities of Lahrood, Meshgin Shahr or Shabil’s spring waters are the perfect base camp for attempting this summit. For an ascent on the south side of the mountain, the small ski resort of Alvares will be choosen.

This region is well known all around Iran for its numerous hot spring water sources (Shabil and Sareyn). Nothing better than a hot bath after a tough day skiing Sabalan.

Best period for skiing this peak is from March up to May.
