Chelgerd’s area in the Zagros mountain range, is one of the best location in Iran for ski touring. You will find there a wide variety of itineraries for all levels. Its highest peak “Zard Kuh” has an elevation of 4200m. Its ascent remains difficult in winter as a long walk is usually mandatory – Roads are closed due to the snow.
In Chelgerd, you will find everything you need. The village is the perfect base camp when willing to ski in this area. Best period for ski touring lasts from February to April.
Regarding weather conditions, expect short but heavy snowfalls, cold nights and warm days when the sun is at its highest!
